vintageloftnyc is an antique and vintage clothing studio/store unlike any other. Affectionately called “Miss Ali Baba’s Cave,” it was established in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn in 1996 and is now located in the Garment Center in Manhattan. It is open by appointment to designers, stylists, collectors, and anyone who has the passion for fashion and design.
vintageloftnyc is the materialization of the energy and enthusiasm of Mary Catalina, owner. She has a thorough history of training and practice in design. From countless hours absorbing Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar at an early, impressionable age in the 60s (to escape being used as a football by her raucous siblings) to graduating from Parsons School of Design, she has worked successfully as a clothing designer and knows innately and technically how to adapt the vintage and antique to today’s design needs.
All categories and eras are offered, from casual to couture, men’s, women’s, and children’s, accessories of all kinds, including jewelry and findings, ethnic clothing and textiles, fabric swatches (printed and jacquard), with a special emphasis on beading, embroidery, and trims.
Sales, rentals, research, and consulting are available by appointment.
